Sounding Urban Places invites you to participate in a research project concerned with the experience of sound in the Binckhorst, Den Haag. The Binckhorst is an area in rapid transformation and we are curious about how you experience these changes. How does listening reveal changes in the environment? What sounds are new? Are there sounds that have disappeared? What sounds do you like or dislike?
Whether you live or work there, or just visit and find sounds you wish to share, you are invited to participate by recording sounds and uploading them to the map. We are particularly interested in your personal experience of the sound and the place where it was recorded. In the map, it is possible to add photos, written descriptions and comments, but also, to tag the recorded sound with your response to it.
We use our instagram account to announce live streams and other projects. Currently we stream sound from a changing location in the Binckhorst live every Thursday evening until Friday morning.
